5 Things To Know Before Starting Your First Dance Class
Ready to start your first dance class at Sugar Land Dance Center? Here are 5 tips to follow before your first class!
1. If your child feels shy or intimidated to go into a room with a bunch of new faces, come a few minutes early to the first class. The teacher, someone at the front desk, or even another student can introduce your child to other students as they arrive so they can go into class having already met a new friend or two.
2. Try to go to the bathroom before class starts so you donβt need to go during. If you need to go to the bathroom during class, be sure to ask the teacher first.
3. Be sure to take off all jewelry before going to the studio. Jewelry can get painfully caught on things (even other people) while dancing so no professional school will allow it to be worn during class.
4. When you stretch, you should not feel sharp pain. Stretch gently until you feel the muscle being lengthened and breathe/relax. Do not force the stretch. Move slowly so you control how much stretch you give your muscles.
5. If you have an injury or are unable to do something, tell your teacher before the class starts if possible. Teachers want to see you make as much progress as you can. If you are holding back, your teacher will do everything they can to get you to participate fully. They have no way of knowing something hurts unless you tell them.
