What to Put in Your Dance Bag

What’s In Your Dance Bag?

Here is a list, compiled by your Sugar Land Dance Center teachers, of items that should possibly live in your dance bag so that you are always prepared:

What to Put in Your Dance Bag:

  • Hair Supplies including bobby pins, ponytail holders, a brush or comb, gel or hairspray or both, hairnet or bun cover

  • Dance journal and pen

  • Protein bar in case you need a pick-me-up

  • First aid: band-aids, instant ice pack

  • Pointe accessories: toe tape, blister care, toe pads, needle/thread/mini scissors, nail clippers

  • Random stuff: nail file so you don’t snag your tights, safety pins, clear nail polish to instantly stop holes in tights from becoming a run, lip balm, knee pads, deodorant (an absolute must!!), feminine products, Theraband, foam roller and/or tennis ball, small towel if you tend to perspire a lot

  • Water thermos

  • Charger for phone

You should always come to class a few minutes early in a cover-up.

Preparing for Dance Class

You should prepare before class starts by: making sure your hair is 100% up, having the correct class attire, warming up feet/ankles/neck, planks, jumping jacks, and going into class with a positive mindset! If you had a bad day and aren’t feeling positive, remember how you good feel after class. Once you get going in class it becomes really hard to remember all the bad because you are concentrating on dancing. By the time you leave, you will feel so much better.
